Haha... my first night in Europe, the man I stayed with (through [link] I highly recommend it!) and I had quite the love affair! Because of scheduling problems, we weren't able to see each other for the rest of my time in Germany... but I think I just might email him when I study abroad in Germany next year. Whaddya think... does a beautiful european one-night-stand deserve a follow up?

I went to Rome for spring break and met this hot Italian guy and had the best week ever! Sure we couldnt really talk to each other, but I couldnt have asked for a better time. I went to local hang outs at night w/ him and his friends and even went to "Roma's most romantic look out" one night! I think I have talked to him once since March and who knows if we will ever see each other again.. but I have memories for a lifetime! Everyone told me to stay away from the guys over there bc they can be a lil difficult to handle and I wouldnt tell anyone else to do it w/ everything going on in the world -- the best thing i can tell anyone is to go w/ what you are feeling -- if u are feeling like its a bad idea is most likely is!

In response to kmf816's post, I would say it is extremely unlikely that you will ever see this Roman guy again. The following is not meant to be rude, but informative instead. For the most part, Italian men are experts at making women (especially American women touring the country) feel that they are the center of their attention and affection. They compliment them, tell them how pretty they are, and are not shy about being intimate rather quickly. While this may come accross to the naive tourist as genuine, do not be deceived. The reality is, Italian guys are players and are very good at it. I know this because I have male cousins around my age living in Roma and Milano. I have personally seen them firsthand lure all kinds of American girls. They can essentially get any girl they want beause they know that American girls are easily impressed, flattered and even swept off their feet when an Italian guyshows interest in them or even talks to them. A cousin of mine in Roma told me his favorite time of the year is around March and April (read: American spring break time) because that is when he can get with tons of girls (and he has a serious girlfriend in Italy). Don't get me wrong, Italian guys may really like the American girl they are with, but they do not want a long term relationship. They see it as a great opportunity for rather easy hook-ups. So to all those who dream about a long distance relationship with Italian guys, odds are it's not going to happen. Chances are great that when you return you will be able to hook up again, but chances are even greater that while you were gone he has been hooking-up with pretty much anything and everything. It's out of sight out of mind really quickly when it comes to Italian guys. Hope this helps. Ciao a tutti e Forza Inter!!!!

I have to say that its not just the italians that put the moves on american girls (the italian girls can be just as bad w/ american guys)... because I have met some forward english guys too. Anyone having any relationship takes a risk, especially in europe... but I would have to say that most people know what they are getting into and arent naiive... part of the reason why my week was so great was bc it was only a week and I was able to see Rome the way the people who live there do. The best way to see a city is by meeting the locals.. so have fun and be careful!
