BA makes regular trips from London to Cape Town (avoiding a layover in Johannesburg) as long as you don't mind a longish layover in London (10-12 hours; if you time it carefully that's long enough to pop into the city for a few hours). They've acquired a bit of a reputation for lost luggage of late (particularly in the late summer and major holidays), and their student prices are either really good or worse than normal prices direct from their website (be sure to hunt around), but the on-board service is normally top-notch.
