I need advice for Luggage storage

This is going to be my first time in Europe!! Do hostels provide some type of security storage area to place our luggage ( I'll be carrying a preety good sized backpack that I don't want to carry if not necessary) when we go out and explore the cities?? I'll appreciate any type of advice you can give me.

Some hostel do offer lockers and do have a baggage room for storing luggage. But, you best bet is to buy a lock for the zipper on your bags and a steelbraided lock to secure your bag to a bed so that it does not grow legs and walk away. You can purchase lock online at travel companies like STA or Magellan.
