Are you wondering about the brand of your jackets because of fear of sticking out like a sore thumb that screams you are U.S Citizens?

Hi Rachael- I will actually be there in a few weeks as well. A couple things I might add. First is the Musee d'Orsay. Not sure how much you are in to art, but it really is a spectacular museum filled with great impressionist work. There is also a very nice view from the top balcony. Also, Sainte Chappelle is on the Ile de la Cite. It was built in the 1200's and is filled with immense panes of very ornate and detailed stained glass. It is a truly beautiful site and a must see. Hope that helped. Bon Voyage! ~Kristy

Hey- I know the Eiffel Tower is cool, but if the line's too long, the Gare Montparnasse is the tallest building in the central city of Paris, and is has a great view. It seemed expensive, but I'm sure the Eiffel tower is also. The neatest thing about being on top of this building instead of the Eiffel tower, was that you could get an aerial view of Paris that included the Eiffel Tower.

I was there for only two days, but I also enjoyed a boat ride on the Siene. The tour guide spoke English (and a few other languages), and it was a neat and easy way to see important landmarks.

I didn't get to go to Versailles, but when I go back it will be on the top of my list. Make sure you go when they have all the fountains turned on. (They used to turn them on during the weekends, but I'm not so sure now.) Check out the Versaille website at [link]

Thanks Kristy & Andrew .... I had Montparnasse, Musee d'Orsay, Sainte Chappelle all next on my list to try and make. I don't think Vers. will have the fountains on during the winter, but I may be wrong. I hear the gardens are beautiful in the spring.

Generally, Paris is very cold during the winter so make sure you have warm jackets and gloves.

Also, museums (like the Louvre) are closed on Tuesdays so make sure they are open before you go. The Eiffel Tower is expensive (I think it is somewhere around $13 to go to the top) but the lines are very short during the winter. If you get seasick easily, do not go up the tower when it is windy!

I don't think the fountains are on during the wonter at Versailles. Also, they are renovating so half of the Hall of Mirrors is blacked off. Part of it is open but it is no where near the effect of the whole gallery being opened.
