quick question for anyone who has traveled with a eurail pass....

i have the schedule booklet and some of the train times say that you have to reserve the spot ahead of time, where would i call or email to reserve this?

also, does anyone know how much it is to book a sleeper train?

any info on using the pass would be amazing! thanks!

well I don't know where you would call or email to reserve something but when I traveled on the eurail pass I just went to the train station itself if I needed to make a reservation. Also there was only once I ran into a probelm with no available seats on a train trying to get to Geneva, I ended up having to go to Bern for that day and doubled back the next day (carefully changing the date I wrote on my eurail pass so I didn't waste a whole day of travel on the pass, something that many people I ran into did though its of course not legal). As for the night train, my memory might be faulty but I believe I spent about 35 to 40 euro (the cheapest available) from Nice to Paris. Unless you have a very strict schedule that you need to stick to no matter what I suggest just being flexible and not worry too much about making reservations way in advance, thats what is great about the eurail pass is that you can just go to the train station and hop on a train (for the most part).

Passes are great, just be sure to buy it before you get to Europe. Some trips are cheaper if you buy your seat at the station, not ahead of time. Other travels are better planned in advance which you can easily do with some planning. Try the website "The Man In Seat 61" for everything you want to know about getting around and the types and kinds of sleeper train accomodations available by specific national train. He works for the British Nation Railway and has an amazing site for every train in Europe, Britain, and most of the known systems of the world. Razz
