Well, my experience started out well, with a reasonable price but that's about it. I am supposed to fly out Saturday, but needed to switch to next Thurs/Fri (10/11th).
So I'm okay with waiting 7 days after purchase to fly (that fine print really wouldn't come with another online website, but that's moot in my case). BUT Student Universe can't get me on a flight until the 18th. That's the earliest. And they couldn't even guarantee it. Or price it.
While my travel agent was sorry and understanding, she didn't know much about policy and had to keep me on hold while she checked. In the end she couldn't quote me a price for the ticket leaving on the 16th either. Or really do anything else. Or switch to any of the other airlines which are listed online as having flights leaving on Friday.
Looks like I'm left with a credit. Greaaat. But still no ticket. In the mean time am booking basically the same ticket with another airline.
Sorry student universe. I get that many of your customers book far in advance and don't have to change a thanksgiving break ticket, but the inflexibility especially for an international flight is kind of appalling. At least with other sites you can reliably get on another flight and have both agents from the site AND the airline itself help you. But my SU ticket couldn't be touched by Delta or NWA. Um, and not turn a 1000 ticket into a 'credit' with no actual use in the near future.
Bottom line, I won't be back. The lack of flexibility and what seems to be a weird relationship between airline suppliers leaves travelers without support and consumer protection. |
