Does anybody know if there is a Rome Museums Pass like paris and London have? Or if not- I was told that most things are free except the Coliseum, Vatican correct?
Does anybody know if there is a way to book tickets to the Vatican here in the US (like you get a voucher or a reservation and pay here in the US online) as I will not have 2 hours to wait in line unless need be!! Thanks! |

The only combined ticket I can find is one that covers the Museo Nazionale Romano, Colosseum, Palatine Hill, Baths of Caracalla, and some others.
www.archeorm.arti.beniculturali.it is the website for it. From what I remember and am reading, almost everything charges minus some churches. You can visit the Vatican Museums for free on the last Sunday of every month, otherwise you pay. I don't think there is way to get tickets in the US, though if you go early it shouldn't be that bad. _________________ In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: It goes on.

I probably shouldn't tell anyone about this because then next time it will be too full...if you are talking the Vatican Cathedral, I have a reallllllllly good free tour that you can do.
Go to the post office in the central area outside of the cathedral and ask about the tours that are given by the priests. They are in the afternoons, they keep the groups very small and are very personal and interactive - and they're FREE. We started with 4 people and there were 40 by the end of the tour (which is why they keep them small). They vary in length but mine lasted 3 hours. We got a history of the architecture and explainations of all sorts of things that were just overwhelming when we walked around inside by ourselves. The priest we had was an American - from Cleveland I think - so he was understandable too. Not a lot of Catholic stuff - just where is made sense. Very worthwhile. |

| Unfortunately, I don't believe that there is advanced booking for the Vatican Museums. You have to stand in line like everyone else. However, each of the 4 or 5 times I've done it, the line passes rather quickly. Do like one of the other posters suggested and get there early so that the line will not be that long. Enjoy your visit. |
