Once i discoverd your site it was because I was last minute and all the other sites were over 300 dollars you guys were a mere 250. Now that I am ahead of schedule though i find that other sites are around 200 some even as low as 150 and you guys are still around 250 total cost. there is something to be said for consitency but 14 days in advance you guys are getting killed by other ticket providers like travelocity, expedia, orbitz and priceline. I dont know what the airlines will offer you and if you can buy more bulk ahead of time to lower the costs but try to do whatever you can to be a little more competitive earlier in the game. it will sure help us students who like to have the plans all laid out before we try to take time off school and work to travel.
Another idea might be that when you post your flights, even if it makes it look more expensive, post the final cost right away. Students want to know the bottom line before they are 3 or four pages and the extra time into it. I hate having to plan half of the trip just to find out that the taxes and fees are gonna kill me and throw me over the budget that I have. If a total ticket is 250 say that at the beggining, where you first post the cost. |

Walker -- I'm glad you're finding good fares close in to your departure, but I'm concerned you're not finding cheaper fares 14 days out and longer. If you could be more specific about what you're looking for we can be more responsive to your questions right now (as in find you a fare that's as low as any out there) as well as to make sure we always have on hand the cheapest fares next time you look. From the fare ranges you're describing I'd guess you're talking about domestic fares where you're finding StudentUniverse uncompetitive (nobody but StudentUniverse has international fares this low). If you've tried lately you'll see that we have some new domestic fares that are really low, in most cases lower than any you'll find on the other sites.
As for your suggestion that we show the full cost at the initial search -- point well taken. Right now technical limitations keep us from showing the total cost initially, but we have fixing this as a development priority. In the meantime you are probably aware you can determine the full cost for any of our tickets simply by selecting your choice from the results, and you will see the full cost calculated on the next screen. If you don't like what you see there, you can delete and go back and select another without committing to any purchase.
