Hey, my name is Trevor. I am trying to go to Cairo in November (2005) and from there head up to Israel, Lebenon and then cross over Syria into Iraq. I may not be doing all that much, because I realize that I may get shot at in some of those places. Do any of you know where it is not safe to go, or can anyone tell me any information about these places? See, I am going there to learn. Many thanks for any help. - Trevor _________________ "You must BE the change that you wish to see in the world" -Gandhi |

I just returned from Israel and Egypt a few weeks ago. I was in Israel for about a month and I took a 3-day side trip to Cairo. Cairo is a very large and busy city. It's pretty poor and dirty, but if you meet the rigt people, it can be very nice. I STRONGLY reccomend staying at the Meramees Hotel. It's a really nice and quiet place. That's where I stayed, obviously. Travel to Israel from Egypt is pretty easy. I took a bus. Make sure you do it with an organized bus company so that you can get through the border quickly, or else you'll be there for days possibly. No joke. Israel is an absolutely amazing country. So beautiful. The topography and weather is amazingly different from place to place. Bad news, the only place you can go from Israel is Egypt and Jordan. You definitely can't get into Lenanon, and you DEFINITELY can't get into Syria from Israel. Seriously, I hope you're joking about Iraq. There's no way in *beep* that you could get there, especially from Syria. Those are not places I'm sure you want to go anyway. Very unsafe, especially if you're an American. I do reccomend spending more time is Israel though. There are so many things to see and it's a very modern country, unlike Egypt. I hope you have a nice time. Good luck! _________________ My eyes are open. |

I am half american half turkish man but grow up in Mersin(southern part of Turkey) and believe me turkish people are very nice and are suckers to have guests in their town. They would do everything that they could do for you.. They are very friendly. If you have any questions about Turkey or other parts dont hesitate to ask me..Have a nice trip:) |
