I'm studying abroad next year in Ecuador and in between the semesters, I have two months where I would like to travel. I wanted to know if there was some sort of travel deal similar to a Eurail pass so I could go to Brasil to meet a friend or just travel throughout the continent. Also, if anybody has any information on travel to Suriname, I would really appreciate it. Any advice would be a great help. Thanks!

To my knowledge, there is no Eurail pass system set up in South America. There is limited train travel. Most of the travelling in South America is by bus or airplane. Brazil does have a air pass system where you can travel around the country for a discount price.

Yeah I agree, but I know they have a saver pack if you get a book of so many tickets. Also there are discounts (or used to be) on trains with the isic card.

You can travel anywhere in South America by bus and it is super cheap, but, make sure you get on a coach bus (the big ones with TV's and AC) or the ride can be a tad miserable.
