Planning a trip to Europe and need advice on getting to/from the cities we plan to visit. We're planning on visiting London, Glasgow, Berlin, Munich, & Paris. What's the best way to get from London to Glasgow? How about between Berlin, Munich, & Paris? Thanks for any and all help! |

| From London to Glasgow, you could either take a bus, train, or plane. A plane will be faster but I sugguest taking a train. It is faster and more comfortable than a bus and you will get to see much of the country. Glasgow is a little more than a 5 hr. train ride from London. |

One of the best ways to get around Germany is by train. Their public transportation system is great. The website for the German train system (which also includes subways) is [link] Train schedules and prices are posted on there. They also have this really neat offer called the Schoenes-Wochenende-Ticket (translation: nice weekend ticket). As long as you take the slower trains (so if you don't care quite how long it will take you) on the weekends for as long as you want to on that one ticket. It'll cost you 30 Euro if you buy it online or 32 Euro at a ticket counter. And, you can take up to 5 people on that one ticket. Anyway, check out the site and it'll give you more info than I can provide here. (And yes, the site is also available in English, just in case your German's not up to speed: just click on the link that says "Internat. Guests" and you'll get the whole site in English).
Enjoy! |

If you are looking for speed, take the ICE trains. You will need to make a reservation (not required, but highly recommended). The train goes 100mph (and possibly faster in some areas). It will get you from Berlin to Munich fast.
It seems to romantic and special to be on a train.. but let's face it. You'll get sick of it after about the first hour... and then you may still have 2 or more transfers and 6 hours to go. ICEs are fast, efficient, and moderately priced.
I recently took the ICE from Munich to Cologne... it was €100,00 each way.. but a one way ticket isnt so bad. |

To get to France from London, or since you'll be in Scotland, you could take a ferry from either England or Scotland. I've not personally done this, but it comes highly reccomeded. Or, you could take the Eurostar from London Waterloo to Paris Nord, which is closer to the center of Paris than the airport, and not that much, I've been looking and found one-ways from 29.50 pounds (about 50 USD). Otherwise, you just have to compare time and price and location of accomodation and bus/train station for where you are going. _________________ In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: It goes on.
