So I was just offered a job as a "mother's helper" for a family travelling to Cape Town for 14 weeks. Being young and female I am pretty nervous about taking the position. I've never been to Cape Town, or anywhere in Africa for that matter, and I can't find straight forward account of living/working in the Cape Town area anywhere.
I was wondering if someone could give me a good honest opinion about safety levels, violence and crime, and the cost of living. My room is paid for and I'll receive $600 US dollars a week. I'm from NYC, so when people say crime is high in CT I'm not sure if that is relative to any major city or just a backyard in Kentucky. Also, I'm trying to figure if the pay rate is decent. Again, coming from NYC that would just about allow me to make rent for the month and pay my other bills...is Cape town much less expensive? Please share your experiences with me!
Thanks & Happy New Year! |
