| Me and my wife will be traveling to Washington D.C. in March to spend 5 days touring the area. Does anybody have any advice on things to do or places to stay. Any information will be greatly appreciated because neither one of us has ever been to this area!!!!!! |

There are many great places to stay, however I am familiar with the city of Dunbar, Virginia right outside of the city- it is a clean city and the hotels there are cheap. Look into taking the tour of Monticello, they take you by bus down to the location or you can drive there. A great way to do the city is to hire a your company as well. Make sure to drive to Baltimore (just 30 or so miles east) to do the national aquarium if you are so inclined or just to walk through the city- the Babe Ruth museum is pretty cool as well in Baltimore. See a baseball/basketball/hockey game! Also- book a tour of the capitol with your senator early (I think you still need to do that).
DO make sure to stop by the WW2/Holocaust Museum- there exhibits are awesome. If you are not taking a car- the subway system will get you anywhere you need as well. Hope that helps a little. |

I just when to D.C. in December. For places to stay, you should look in the Dupont Circle area, which is close to downtown. There are a lot of good regular hotels and several nice boutique hotels. I stayed at the Hotel Rouge and it was a nice experience. It is only a 5-10 min. walk to the Metro and is a 10 min. walk from the Adams-Morgan area. They had a free happy hour in their lounge. You should also look at any of the other Kimpton hotels in the area.
For neighborhoods, I would walk around Georgetown and do some shopping. Adams-Morgan is a good place to go for dinner. The Dupont Circle area is also a good place to go for dinner and shopping. Old Town in Arlington is a good place to walk around on a Sunday.
The International Spy Museum is a good and interesting museum that you could spend all day in. There is the mall area with all of the monuments and the Smithsonian museums. |
