Just wanted to get some ideas of what i can do while i am in Barcelona... I'll be there about 2 weeks... so if there are any "must see" or "must do" things please let me know... Are there any tourist attractions that are not worth going to? Also, what is the easiest way to travel? Car? Train? Bus? Thanks for all the help... and are ATM cards any good? or do i need to take Mastercard.... _________________ thanks for the help |

| ATMs work fine, and actually I suggest using them. I only used their trains and their subways while I was there (and their taxis). Their subways are a great way for getting around the city. Buses take too long. Blah. I HIGHLY recommend the Gaudi park. It's the Parc Guell I think. There are some cool houses built by Gaudi and some awesome architecture throughout the city. They have some great open-air markets that I suggest you go to. They also have amazing Cathedrals and a little arc, which I compare to Paris's Arc de Triomphe. And you absolutely MUST go to a tasca while you're there (it's a restaurant that serves tapas). Spanish food is very good. While I was there I stayed in el Barri Gotic, which is a little neighborhood or section off of La Rambla (that's the happenin' street in the city), just a short distance from the subway stop Catalunya (line 1). You MUST see La Sagrada Familia . That is CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZY awesome. It's just amazing, the detail on that. There is also a Picasso museum, which was pretty cool. Barcelona is an awesome city, with very friendly people. I can't imagine what I wouldn't recommend seeing.[/b] |

| Hi- I agree with Stefka...the Parc Guell and the Sangrada Familia are must sees. I also thought the Picasso museum was worth it, it really shows his development as an artist. I rented a bike and rode along the coast (there is a nice bike path) which was a good way to see a lot at once. I would skip going to the Olympic park. The beaches in Barcelona are usually dirty and crowded, so I would recommend going a little south (taking a bus). There is a great bar off Las Ramblas, down a little ally called Forrest of the Faries I think (in spanish though). |

I booked a trip to Barcelona last May with a friend and the hostel lost our reservation! By then, all the cheap accomodation in Barcelona had been booked so we started searching for other options.
We found this agency at the last minute called Apartments Ramblas - you can find them online at [link] We found a studio in the Gothic Quarter (Correu Vell) for 60 euros a night for both of us with a balcony, kitchen, air conditioning, cable, etc. It was the same price as the hostel and 100 times better!
The place was completely renovated and literally everything was brand new. Some items still had the Ikea tags! It was beautiful and so convenient - we even had our own kitchen! The agent who worked with us was so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this agency and this apartment in particular. It was the most authentic and enjoyable way to experience Barcelona. Loved it! _________________
